OPEN LETTER OF PROTEST AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN IRAN
Date: January 9, 2023
To: President Ebrahim Raisi and Ali Khamenei Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Re: Human Rights Violations and Illegal Executions
This Letter is addressed to the Supreme Leaders of the Republic of Iran for willfully violating the Human Rights of its own citizens. The Paz Foundation being a United Nations NGO with the Economic Social Council hereby, formally protest. We protest the arrests, torture, and killings of your citizens. We, hereby, formally request swift condemnation, investigations, and justice before the United Nations Security Council and the Court of International Justice.
For months, your Security forces have cracked down on demonstrators with excessive force, killing at least 348 people. This includes at least 50 children, so far. Thousands of people have been arrested, and many among them were subjected to torture, including sexual and gender-based violence. Lawyers have been arrested and intimidated simply for defending their clients, with a reliant judiciary acting as an instrument of repression.
Recently, several UN Special Procedures have called on the Council to establish “an international investigative mechanism, to ensure accountability in Iran. The investigation is to hopefully put an end to the persistent impunity for grave human rights violations.”
However, these actions by international agencies can take months and even years to condemn the atrocities and systematic killings. The Horrific killing of your own citizens who protest Human Rights Violations. –which is a universal right. For the sake of Humanity, STOP THE KILLING AND TORTURE OF YOUR OWN CITIZENS!
